Read Weaknesses and Check the Beach Fish
Use the bestiary in your journal to read enemy weaknesses as encounters add information. To earn the demo's Knowledge Keeper achievement, complete that version's bestiary, including the easily missed small fish in the beach shallows.
How to Use Bestiary Entries in Combat
- Encounter enemies while exploring, then open the bestiary in your journal to review the information added. Check the relevant entry before choosing how to approach the next fight.
- Read the enemy's weakness and choose a suitable weapon. Consider switching between Slash, Pierce, and Impact when your current damage type is ineffective.
- Check the weapon's item description for its actual damage type. An attack animation that resembles a thrust does not automatically mean the weapon deals Pierce damage.
- Let the Power Meter recover before judging the weapon's effectiveness. Repeated attacks with an exhausted meter deal very little damage, which can make a suitable weapon feel ineffective.
Demo Enemy Weaknesses and Useful Attacks
These matchups apply to the demo. Use the listed physical weakness where available, and keep throwing weapons ready for flying or elevated targets. For a missing entry, pay particular attention to the small fish rather than searching only for enemies on land.
| Enemy or Target | Weakness, Attack Choice, or Location |
|---|---|
| Ratty Bugs | Vulnerable to Slash damage. |
| Hopping chickens | Vulnerable to Pierce damage. |
| Skeletal fighters | Vulnerable to Impact damage. |
| Flying enemies | Better handled with throwing weapons. |
| Elevated eye turrets | Use throwing weapons against these elevated targets. |
| Small fish | Found in the beach's shallow water. Throw daggers at them to register their kills for the demo bestiary. |
How to Get the Easily Missed Demo Fish Entry
- Return to the beach and inspect the shallow water for small fish. Include the shallows in your search even if you have already dealt with the nearby land enemies.
- Use throwing daggers to kill the fish and register their kills. Choose this ranged approach instead of trying to reach them with melee attacks from shore.
- Open the journal's bestiary after the fish hunt and check the entry before continuing your demo completion sweep.
Knowledge Keeper and the Full-Release Research Goal
The full release instead includes A Lifetime's Work, which requires helping Knowledge Keeper Wourha finish her research. Keep Wourha's research objective separate from the demo bestiary checklist. Use the route below to reach her study while progressing through the Tower of Knowledge.
Spoilers: Reaching Wourha's Study
- Open the Tower of Knowledge by lighting all three island Gargoyle beacons with the Azure Torch. Enter after the bell has rung three times.
- Inside the Tower, light Gargoyles 3 and 7 with the Azure Torch. This opens the nearby interior passage from the numbered-statue balcony.
- Return through the newly opened interior passage and work through the rooms until you reach the next Crystal Monument. Continue up the stairwell beyond it.
- Follow the climb toward the upper fast-travel point and Knowledge Keeper Wourha's study. Explore the nearby rooms before continuing upstairs.
Save Your Progress After Exploring
Make a manual save at a Crystal Monument after an enemy hunt or exploration trip. Resting and saving are separate actions, and dying without saving loses progress made since your latest save. Resting also respawns enemies in the area, so be ready to face threats again when retracing your route.
